Carved, Not Drawn

Paired Solace tables forming a coffee table, faceted wood bases with fluid tops.

Sculptural coffee table set from the Solace series.

This set from the Solace series works as a single coffee table through pairing. Two surfaces at different heights, close enough to read as one object, flexible enough to shift how you use it. Together they create a double plane. Practical, but never literal.

What matters most is the irregularity. The bases are faceted, almost like cut stone or a gem, dense and grounded. Each plane catches light differently, giving the volume depth and weight. They feel carved rather than drawn. Nothing symmetrical. Nothing polite. Above that, the cover tops soften everything. Fluid, calm, almost hovering. Sharp below, gentle above.

This set lives today in a very special room of the Cartier store. Placed there intentionally, not as decoration, but as presence. The contrast between precision and softness mirrors the space itself. Quiet luxury. Functional sculpture, holding its ground without asking for attention.
